How World Media Outlets is built

World Media Outlets is a country-by-country media directory and reference platform. Its goal is to help readers discover news sources, compare media environments, understand local context, and verify stories through original publishers without pretending any global directory is ever finished.

Editorial standard

The directory favors clarity over volume. A useful country page should explain what kinds of sources are listed, which languages appear in the media landscape, how local or regional outlets fit into the national picture, and what limitations remain. When data is uncertain, the site uses neutral wording and invites corrections.

Outlet selection

World Media Outlets prioritizes official news websites, public broadcasters, recognized newspapers, local and regional newsrooms, digital-native outlets, news agencies, business publications, specialist sources, and diaspora or regional outlets when they are useful for discovery. Listings are curated for source-finding value, not ranked as endorsements.

Country organization

Countries are organized by widely recognized country pages with region, language, flag, country facts, source guide cards, outlet categories, and live headline sections where public feeds are available. Large countries can also support regional hub pages when enough local data is available.

Snapshot generation

Headline snapshots are automated previews from public RSS feeds and publisher-provided feed data. They are designed to help readers see recent topics quickly, then continue to the original publisher. They are not human-written breaking news reports.

Source updates

Directory data is maintained through manual review, link checks, reader suggestions, correction forms, and publisher update requests. Because news organizations change URLs, ownership, paywalls, feeds, and editorial focus, pages are treated as living references.

Corrections

Corrections and listing updates are reviewed before publication. A strong correction request includes the outlet name, country, current URL, proposed change, and a source or proof URL. Corrections can be submitted from outlet cards, the claim listing page, or the contact page.

External attribution

The site links directly to publishers and does not republish full article bodies. Short headline previews, when available, are used for navigation and source discovery. Publisher names, URLs, and feed links remain the authoritative destination for reading the complete story.

Ownership and transparency

Ownership notes are reference information only and should be checked against current outlet disclosures, corporate filings, public broadcaster documentation, regulator records, or publisher media kits. Missing ownership data is left blank rather than guessed.

No ranking authority

World Media Outlets is not an official media regulator, press-freedom index, government source, or ranking authority. Country context colors, outlet categories, source guide picks, and directory groupings are editorial navigation aids, not official scores, endorsements, or safety assessments.

Limitations

No global media directory is ever complete. Some countries have fewer verified listings, some feeds may be unavailable, and some publisher sites block automated link checks. Readers should compare sources and verify important information through original publishers and primary documents.

Improve a listing

Use the claim/update flow or the correction button on any outlet card to suggest changes.
